Workshop: Svjetlosne instalacije

At the seventh Grafoskop Festival, the aim is to continue the tradition of creatively using overhead projectors for artistic and theatrical purposes, while live programs of artistic performances, installations, and educational sessions connect concepts of light with contemporary artistic creation, affirming classical yet innovative forms of creativity. The festival program is intended for a broad audience, with a special focus on children, youth, and independent visual artists, musicians, and performers.

OVERHEAD PROJECTOR WORKSHOP – What Lies Behind the Shadow?

The first session will start with a brief presentation of the workshop leader’s work and recordings that can inspire participants. Afterward, the leader will introduce the basics of shadow theater on an overhead projector, materials, props, and techniques, giving participants a chance to try creating their own analog projections. The day will end with a short presentation, where participants will share associations based on the work done so far.

On the second day, participants will work on their own material, guided by associations from the previous day and supported by the leader. This will be followed by another brief presentation with feedback from fellow participants and the leader, who will offer guidance for the final presentation, combining all short scenes into a larger piece.

On the third day, all scenes will be merged into the final presentation with the leader’s guidance. After the final performance, participants will engage in discussion, sharing experiences and impressions, and enjoy some time together.

The workshop consists of three sessions, each lasting four hours
